Jeffrey Godfrey and two other of his Miami Central teammates committed to UCF on Sunday, giving the Knights arguably their best class in school history.

Saturday's humiliating defeat at the hands of Rutgers didn't linger long for UCF. The 45-24 loss might have been a momentary setback for the football program but the Knights received news on Sunday night that will undoubtedly raise their spirits, as they received commitments from Jeffrey Godfrey and two of his teammates.

Wide receiver Joshua Reese and cornerback Jammal McClain will join Godfrey at UCF and the trio could represent the biggest recruiting haul for the Knights in school history. Godfrey is ranked three-stars and is the 23rd-rated quarterback in the nation. Reese is a three-star receiver and McClain has seen his stock soar in recent weeks. All three have been highly-recruited and decided that the time was right for them to pick their school.

"It feels great," Godfrey told Inside Knights. "I decided yesterday with me and (Reese and McClain.) We were just talking about it and we just decided the time was right."

The trio picked UCF because of a chance to play early and to make an impact immediately. Godfrey was recruited by other schools such as USF, Florida State and Miami but he liked that UCF saw him as a quarterback.

Reese also had some big offers from schools like Miami, Tennessee, Nebraska and West Virginia and should be able to contribute immediately for the Knights.

All three players were instrumental in Miami Central's run to the semifinals in the 6A state playoffs.

"It was great but nothing would have been greater than a state title," added Godfrey, who had a touchdown pass in Central's 21-14 loss to the eventual state champions, Miramar. Godfrey is expected to enroll at UCF this January to compete for the starting job in 2010.
