UCF hung tough against an immensely talented Texas team but the banged up Knights lacked the firepower to keep up with the Longhorns who eventually went on to win 35-3. While there weren’t too many great performances for the Knights there were some bright spots.

Torrell Troup- It doesn’t matter if it’s a FCS school, a C-USA opponent or the second-ranked team in the nation, Troup continues to prove that he’s the best one-technique on the field against any team he plays. Troup clogged the middle and made things uncomfortable for Texas through the first half.

Jonathan Davis- His numbers weren’t outstanding but Davis was a bright spot against the best run defense in the nation. He finished with 71 yards on 22 carries but it was his running style that has to have UCF fans excited. Davis displayed excellent vision, quickness and power as he managed to consistently turn broken plays into short gains. Look for him to get more reps in the future.

Jarvis Geathers- He did it quietly but the defensive end had another impressive game stat-wise as he finished with six tackles and two sacks, which puts him ahead of Bruce Miller for the most on the team and in the conference.

Cory Hogue- The inside backer wasn’t dominant but he was stout against the run, finishing with 12 tackles, two of those going for a loss.

Blake Clingan- Clingan looked like the punter of old as he had his best game of the season, logging three punts over 50 yards and putting four inside the 20, one that pinned Texas back on the one-yard line. He also had a long of 70 yards.

Josh Robinson- The freshman corner was burnt a few times but he showed tremendous growth in his ball skills this week. He broke up one touchdown pass and then made an excellent play to get an interception, giving him four on the season. Robinson continues to have his ups and downs but you have to like the potential he is exhibiting.
