The Knights had plenty of opportunities to beat ECU but turnovers and missed tackles led to a 19-14 loss. Which players consistently stepped up to give UCF a chance to win?
A.J. Guyton
- Nine receptions for 119 yards, Guyton came to play against ECU. The staff clearly wanted take advantage of Guyton’s quickness and running ability by isolating him with defenders. He got a majority of his yardage on screen and bubble plays that were executed beautifully.
Lawrence Young- The linebacker missed some tackles (the whole team did) but he made big plays to keep
UCF
in the game. He had an interception and a fumble recovery to go along with nine tackles.
Brynn Harvey
- Harvey had his best running performance of the season. Statistically, it may not seem that way as he only accumulated 71 yards on the ground, but he ran with tenacity and was just explosive. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry and had a touchdown and he would have had more if the team didn’t fall behind in the second half and had to rely on throwing the ball so much.
Jordan Richards
- A great story gone wrong. Richards comes back to his home state in his senior season and has nine tackles and a big forced fumble in front his a lot of friends and family. Unfortunately, the afternoon was tainted by Richards going down with an injury. He was carted off the field but seems to be doing fine now.
Through the game there were some good performances.
Torrell Troup
was dominant at times and
Kamar Aiken
came up with big plays, but inconsistency ultimately doomed the Knights. We’d also like to give out game balls to
Derrick Hallman
and
Bruce Miller
but too many blown opportunities makes it hard to reward too many players. UCF left the impression that it had the more talented team and the Knights were in position to make big plays but they just couldn’t finish and that will be an interesting storyline to watch going forward.
