Visit Sealed Deal for Jacob
Jacob, a 6'7", 310 lb. tackles from Westlake H.S. (Ga.) is UCF's fifth offensive line commit of the class and might have the most potential of any current player to give UCF a verbal for 2010. Although he has tremendous size, Jacob is more than just a big body. As a basketball player, Jacob has surprising quickness that most players his size lack.
"My strengths are pass-blocking and my feet," Jacob told InsideKnights.com. "I move very quickly and I can also get inside of defenders." Don't worry though UCF fans, Jacob said that he'll concentrate solely on football in college. Last week, Jacob took a trip down to Orlando and fell in love with the campus.
"The facilities were nice. I liked all the buildings too and the people were real nice, it was just a great atmosphere."
However, academics might have played the biggest role in Jacob's commitment.
"They had my major but they also have good academics overall. I liked that they had a high graduation rate."
In fact, Jacob said UCF's academic success amongst football players put the Knights over the top and helped distinguish them from schools like Indiana, New Mexico and Middle Tennessee State.
"They have excellent facilities, but I mainly chose UCF for academics and coaches, they have a real good staff."
Coach David Kelly was in charge of Jacob's recruitment and the talented tackle said that Kelly was really excited when he told him of his commitment.
Darius Robinson, Jacob's teammate, opted for Clemson over UCF, but when asked if Jacob felt bad that he wouldn't play at UCF with Robinson, he didn't seem too perturbed.
"No, I'm not too disappointed."
Maybe that's because Jacob has 12 other players around him that have already committed, so he's in good company. With four other linemen that will grow with him, Jacob hasn't heard too much about his teammates to be, but he's excited to get acquainted with them.
