Last season, UCF finished with the 66th ranked recruiting class in the nation and the second highest in the conference. This season, the Knights are atop the conference. How did other in-conference schools fare?

UCF finished with arguably its best recruiting class of all time, as the Knights put together a group of 24 commits, including four-star linebacker, Jonathan Davis. UCF’s class ranks 56th in the nation, which puts the team on top of the totem pole amongst all other C-USA teams.

Last season, the Knights finished second behind Southern Miss, but this year UCF’s depth and raw athleticism was too much for any in-conference team to beat, although some did come close. UCF is also awaiting a response from four-star defensive tackle, Kwame Geathers, who will likely decide between UCF, Georgia and Tennessee by the end of the week, so the rich could seemingly get richer.

Coming in a close second to UCF was Houston, which finished at #57. The Cougars started strong, landing a handful of players before the New Year. Their class consists of 26 players, including eight three-star, most of who reside on defense. The star of the class for Houston is A.J. Dugat, a big, four-star safety with legit 4.5 seed.

Last year’s recruiting champs, Souhern Miss, finished behind Houston at 62nd overall. The Golden Eagles accumulated 10 three-star players and signed 23 players overall. Kendrick Hardy, Jamie Collins and Jacoby Bell are talented in-state players that headline the group.

To no surprise, June Jones has his SMU Mustangs back on track, as his team ranked 67th in the nation. Jones brought in 26 players and really beefed up on the offensive line.

Rice, Tulsa and Tulane ended up in the 70s. Rice landed some stellar local prospects and Tulsa had the big catch with Shavodrick Beaver, a four-star quarterback that could give the conference nightmares down the road.

ECU and Memphis landed in the 80s, as they brought in 21 and 22 players respectively. Marshall ended up at 99 while the JUCO heavy class of UAB finished at #106. UTEP trailed the conference at #107 after landing just 20 players.
