Victor Gray is a three-star defensive end prospect from Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips and Scout.com…
No Gray Area, Victor Commits to UCF
"I've been moving my entire life. I was born in South Carolina, moved to Atlanta when I was six months old and also lived in Pennsylvania and Maryland before moving to Orlando. I'm just sick of moving and really didn't see the need to go anywhere else when I have a great program and excellent, clean campus around it in my own back yard."
This defensive end is a terrific athlete and was an extremely productive player for the Metro Champions this year. He now looks forward to taking his game to the next level.
"I'm excited. At every level you go up it always gets more challenging. The competition keeps getting better but I'm looking forward to it. I want to be the best wherever I go. I guess you can call it arrogance but you need to have a little of that when you play defense, you have to think that you're better than the guy lining up across from you."
Gray committed to UCF after a fantastic visit in which he was hosted by Bruce Miller and Torrell Troup.
"They are both down to earth guys and we had fun going to the basketball game. The team was a lot better than I thought and I came away impressed. I had fun with Frankie Davis and Tay Irvin too. We didn't talk about rooming together because I think all of us combined in one room would break the floor."
The 6'4", 235 lbs. end committed to UCF Saturday night after the basketball game.
"The coaches were really happy but a little shocked too. I really like Coach Panagos, he is a real down to earth guy, he's crazy though but in a good way. I met his wife and daughter too and they are all nice. I told them that if I commit, they owe me dinner," joked Gray.
Gray already visited Ole Miss but decided that UCF was where he wanted to be.
"I shook George O'Leary's hand yesterday and told him I was giving him my word that I was officially a Knight. I want to let all the staff and fans where I stand," added Gray, who also said that he will cancel all his remaining visits.
Now Gray will look towards basketball season and school.
"I have mid-terms tomorrow, so there shouldn't be any more distractions," added Gray. "We lost to three against Olympia on Friday, but I think we'll meet them again. I haven't thought about playing basketball at the next level, although I think I could. I'll strictly concentrate on football though."
With Gray and Davis committed, UCF has bolstered its defensive line class and will look to add several more prospects in the near future.
