Davis Making Decision
Frankie Davis is an imposing player. At 6'3", 270 lbs, Davis has the size to be a very effective at the collegiate level but it's his speed and quickness that has impressed college scouts.
Davis' skill was on display Wednesday night when he took on some of the area's best linemen in the Central Florida All-Star game. Davis dominated the competition as he regularly blew past linemen and made plays in the backfield.
Wreaking havoc on offenses is something Davis did on a regular basis this past year for East Ridge H.S. (Fla.) Davis helped lead the Knights to a 10-2 record and a district title.
"It was pretty good, we just came up short," Davis told InsideKnights.com. "We had a great season though."
On the year, Davis had 66 tackles and two sacks. More importantly, Davis stepped up when the competition was at its highest, as East Ridge faced local powers such as Osceola, South Sumter and Apopka.
"It was a learning experience basically. Coming in and playing in big games like that helps you gain experience through the season and I learned to make big plays when I had to."
Davis was just one of several East Ridge players that dominated during the season, as he teamed with Jeremy Wright on the year to form an extremely strong group of stars.
"Jeremy is the best running back I've ever seen at the high school level. He's a great guy and a great athlete."
Wright and Davis teamed together one last time Wednesday to help propel to West team to a victory over the East squad in the all-star game and that final game together was something that Davis will cherish.
"It was exciting to have this last game of high school ball together."
With Davis' days of playing high school ball over, he will now turn his attention to recruiting. Davis has picked up offers from UCF, Purdue, N.C. State, West Virginia, UConn, Wisconsin and others. However, only two are standing out Davis.
"Right now UCF and Purdue are standing out to me."
Davis has visited Purdue and said he'll be visiting UCF on January 9th.
"Coach Collins and Coach Panagos are my recruiting coaches. They're both funny guys and are good coaches. Coach Panagos said he expects me to just do really good job and step up."
As of now, Davis plans on making his decision in the next several days.
"It's really tough, I don't know if I'll be able to wait until Signing Day. I'll be making my decision soon, probably before Christmas."
Now that football season is over, Davis will find ways to stay in shape.
"I'm going to be training hard and going on a weightlifting program. I'll join the weightlifting team and I'll also probably do the shot-put in track. I'm benching about 320 right now and I squat over 450 lbs."
With his decision nearing, Davis will have his options but fortunately for UCF, this current Knight looks like he could very well be a Knight on the next level as well.
