Tumultuous Offseason Continues for Marshall
Brandon Marshall (Jack Dempsey/AP)

Former UCF and current Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall has already had a nightmare of an offseason, and there is still another month before training camp begins.
The former Knight elevated himself to star status last season, as he caught 102 passes for 1325 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Broncos. His production was so good last season, that the team decided to release former number one receiver
Javon Walker
in the offseason.
2008 is supposed to be the year that Marshall and young quarterback
Jay Cutler
transition the Denver passing game together, but Marshall doesn’t appear to be holding up his end of the bargain.
Brandon Marshall
had surgery a few months ago to repair a forearm injury, in which it was later found that he injured while “horsing around” with some friends in an Orlando hotel room back in March. Initially, Marshall stated that he slipped on a McDonalds wrapper and put his arm through a TV.
"I've done things like that too. It may seem silly to the public, but I have been in that situation, too," tight end
Tony Scheffler
said. "I'm accident-prone and I can tell you similar stories. He didn't get hurt too badly. He was here today and will be back at it before you know it. You laugh at something like this."
Maybe Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan will eventually be able to laugh at the slip and fall, assuming his number one receiver is completely healthy, but Marshall has just made the news again for something that is certainly no laughing matter, an alleged misdemeanor battery charge. This incident could land Marshall with a suspension from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
The Denver Post reported that NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed the league is looking into a March 6 arrest in Atlanta for a misdemeanor battery charge. It was Marshall's third arrest in 12 months, although no charges were filed. The incident took place about two weeks before Marshall suffered a significant injury to his right forearm while apparently roughhousing with family members on vacation.
Regarding a possible suspension by the league, Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, told The Post: "Given the fact the NFL has known about it and I'm assuming has conducted its own investigation - we sent them a tremendous amount of information about this situation - that if something would have happened, I assumed it would have already happened."
Suspension or not, the bigger picture is that with three arrests in 12 months, and an injury that required surgery from playing around, it doesn’t seem as if Brandon Marshall is mature enough to handle the NFL stardom that his physical talents display.
