A former UCF wide receiver with high expectations is trying to recover from an offseason injury to make an impact this season. Brandon Marshall is trying to get healthy enough to play and lead his Denver Broncos to greater heights in their struggling passing game in 2008. | |||

Brandon Marshall had surgery in the offseason to repair a forearm injury, in which it was later found that he injured while “horsing around” with some friends in an Orlando hotel room back in March. Initially, Marshall stated that he slipped on a McDonalds wrapper and put his arm through a TV. "I've done things like that too. It may seem silly to the public, but I have been in that situation, too," tight end Tony Scheffler said. "I'm accident-prone and I can tell you similar stories. He didn't get hurt too badly. He was here today and will be back at it before you know it. "You laugh at something like this." It isn’t very much of a laughing matter to coach Mike Shanahan and the Broncos how Marshall injured himself, only when the budding star will be back on the field practicing with his team. In 2007, Marshall had a breakout season, catching 102 passes for 1325 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Broncos. His production was so good last season, that the team decided to release former number one receiver Javon Walker in the offseason. Marshall is currently running routes and has a target date of catching passes by June 22. If all goes as scheduled, Marshall will be able to fully participate in Broncos training camp in July. |
