| Knights Spring Practice Begins | ||||

UCF started its spring practice on Monday, working out for just over two hours, and that will be a warm-up for the following three weeks, in which the Knights will have 15 practices. Spring ball was slated to start last Wednesday, but the untimely death of freshman receiver Ereck Plancher pushed the practice back until after Easter weekend. | |||

The Knights mostly worked on individual drills and towards the end the offense got together to do pass scale. Over the next month, the most interesting battle will be at quarterback, as junior Michael Greco and redshirt freshmen Joe Weatherford, Nate Tice and Andy Slowik will all vie for a chance to replace Kyle Israel. All four got some repetitions on Monday, and will continue to be scrutinized until April 14th. Also worth noting will be the difference two new defensive coaches will make. Secondary coach Gary Blackney and linebackers coach Geoff Collins are additions to the coaching staff that are interacting on the field with their players for the first time since joining the Knights. The team will finish off the week with an emotional bus ride to Naples on Saturday to attend Plancher’s funeral, and then they must get back to work. Two weeks after Plancher’s funeral, the Knights will have their annual spring game at 3 p.m. in Bright House Networks Stadium. Stay tuned to InsideKnights.com for the entire spring, as we will be bringing you coverage and offering updates from practice in the following weeks. |
