Football Practice Report
ORLANDO – The UCF football team practiced
for two hours in full pads Tuesday without senior quarterback Ryan
Schneider and redshirt freshman center Cedric Gagne-Marcoux. Both
players were suspended for the season today.
Schneider leaves UCF as the school’s second leading passer in yards
(10,976) and touchdowns (82) while also serving as the team leader
with 37 career starts.
“I love Ryan Schneider like a son,” stated UCF head coach Mike
Kruczek. “This is going to be a tough pill for our team to swallow
with the loss of both players,” added Kruczek. “The loss of Ryan
impacts the entire team since he has played in the most games of any
of our players and he was our inspirational leader. It is a critical
loss for our program.”
Without Schneider, UCF could turn to true freshman Steven Moffett at
quarterback. The Winter Park native took most of the snaps with the
first team Tuesday and looked very impressive both throwing and
running the football. “I want to play,” commented Moffett. “It is up
to coach, but I feel that I am ready to contribute.”
Kruczek and his coaches will have two more practices to decide on a
starter entering Saturday’s game at Eastern Michigan. Kruczek did
announce Tuesday that Adam Butcher will start at center Saturday.
