"He's only played a year and a half at defensive end," Wilkinson said. "This kid is an athlete who's best football is ahead of him. He's still learning the game and doesn't realize how good he can be. Deondre has all the athletic ability in the world. He will put on weight and play outside linebacker or defensive end. They [UCF] are still deciding but I think with his body and frame he will grow into a defensive end."
It was unclear whether UCF would offer Barnett. Then O'Leary say his film.
"It was after that," Wilkinson said. He said ‘go get him. We need him.'
"He was there for a game on Saturday and he called and told me to switch his bio here [at the school] so that it said he would be attending Central Florida. At the time I didn't even know yet that they had offered him. It was kind of funny."
Barnett has nine sacks on the year and is one of the team's leading tacklers. Cocoa beat Clewistown in the first round of the playoffs. They face Orlando Jones this weekend.
