Sumrall a Knight?

Winter Park HS WR R.J. Sumrall

Steven Moffet's cousin, R. J. Sumrall received a lot of attentions the last couple of months from several schools. Pressure from is mounting as the wide receiver continued to receive interest from UCF, Southern Miss, South Florida, Toledo, FSU, and GA Tech.

I caught up with R. J. Sumrall during his workout session at the gym. Sumrall has been working out during the summer in preparation for his upcoming senior season at Winter Park High School, Winter Park, FL. Sumrall is just coming back from UCF camp last weekend. He also planned to attend Southern Miss (June 28) camp and South Florida camp on July 13.

Although Sumrall does not have an offer as of yet, he has continued to receive interest from UCF, Southern Miss, South Florida, Toledo, FSU, and GA Tech. UCF and Southern Miss contacted Sumrall in May and both appear to be in the lead.

Who is your favorite right now? "It's a two-way tie as my leader right now, Southern Miss and UCF"

What makes you like UCF? "They pass the ball the majority of the football game and you're guaranteed to touch the ball at least five times," said Sumrall.

What do you like about Southern Miss? "Just like UCF, Southern Miss passes the ball most of the times, and I like the area because most of my family lives there," said Sumrall.

What do you like about South Florida? "They throw a lot and their routes make the WR more notices"

Although signing period is just eight months away, Sumrall has received a lot of pressure from his family members to sign with UCF. "They want me to go to UCF," said Sumrall. But the most pressure comes from his cousin, QB Steven Moffet, who signed with UCF in Feb. 2003. Moffet played with Sumrall last year at Winter Park High School. Moffet had repeatedly said that he want Sumrall to be a Golden Knight.

Sumrall shares the same feeling as Moffet, but has some concerns about the amount of WR UCF has on it roster. "Right now the position that I play, they're so deep in it," said Sumrall. "Last year they got like nine wide receivers on scholarship," added Sumrall. Now Sumrall is wondering if there is a spot for him on the UCF's roster so he can join his cousin to do great things.
